Propriétaire du Théâtre Français...Giveaway!

Before I announce the Propriétaire du Théâtre Français (owner of French theatre) I want to thank each and every one of you who joined in on my opera theatre giveaway out of love, and passion to create drama as I do.

Hands that create poetic art with grace and age.

Not your typical dancing shoes of stage performance, but shoes that wore out in a soulful performance of building the floor of dance.

I am inspired by old theatre's, their history and beauty they behold.

“I have been creating for a lifetime; probably influenced by life itself.”

My hand created theatre's built and signed by me Dore Callaway can be seen in my etsy shop ready for a performance by you. More theatre's coming soon to my etsy, getting ready for a spring production.

The spotlight is on our newest owner of one of my French theatre's.

Pictured is the theatre of opera where she will start performing on.

I am excited to announce that the beautiful Christel Hutson (Here)A Far Place... is the winner of her very own French Theatre. I am excited to see her future performances where she will become her own actor and producer in the arts of song and dance. The winning comment was calculated with the use of Random.org entering 1-79 with number 3 being the number drawn. If you have not met Christel at "A Far Place" please do so and see the beautiful ooak dolls she creates, congratulations Christel!

A GiveAway... With Drama

"click on photo to Théâtre enlarge details"

I have created with heirloom quality in mind knowing they will delight for decades to come. It is my wish to inspire artwork and handwork within all of us. Have you ever created something or received something that touched you so gently that you had to cry, well I was touched in this manner when I visited Anita at "castles crowns cottages" and experienced her opéra théâtre production that moved me with a need to create one of my own, this then lead me to creating many for my peaceful etsy shop and more coming soon.

“I have been creating for a lifetime; probably influenced by life itself.”

Taking a theatrical approach to creating and setting the stage for drama where the walls are marked with age and the distressing of time providing a perfect backdrop with imperfect age to what appears to be an abandoned old French theatre in France. The wire chandelier hanging over center stage is layered with textures and paints dramatically adding the right kind of rightness where this rustic old French stage echoes performances bygone. It made a whole lot of sense to me why I would love to share some theatrical drama with you in a G I V E A W A Y! and sharing the joy of being your own producer in a memorable performance of a stage production.

A Toy Theatre is a miniature stage, built in card or wood where Children perform plays on it using characters and scenes cut out from printed sheets of paper dolls and text written in a simple "playbook". The audience would normally be family and friends who view the stage. Adults too were known to use them, especially the large elaborate ones as I have now listed in my etsy shop!

Opéra Théâtre appeared in the Paris department store Etrennes catalog for many years, circa 1875. Originally crafted to entertain child's play but adults found creative pleasure in producing performances as well.
Theatre doll mice and papier goods are not included in this giveaway! You may make or purchase papier dolls or holiday lights to light your theatre and ornaments setting your stage with seasonal drama with a performance that will delight all.

Opéra Théâtre Valued at $120.00

Authentic With A Sense Of Soul

"Click on photos to enlarge rustic detail"
My rustic 100 year old find

I love the fragile look of salvaged pieces and embracing what beauty they bring to a home created with pieces that make a big impression on me, it's how I imagine it. I was excited to get these wardrobe doors home with me that were sadly hanging onto dear life from a cabinet beyond repair. With a little sanding to them and the given wash of grey added the right kind of rightness to the patina of a darker shade of white adding a massive dose of what makes it beautiful.

When I recycle and upcycle I have a policy that nothing is off limits and everything salvaged is meant to be used for something authentic with a sense of soul.

I live by one of my favorite quotes:
"By only owning things you know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
~William Morris

Living a salvaged down-to-earth style with a lived in look resulted in looking artfully at what one can create, with having an easy relationship with an imagination.

Nothing Is Perfect...But Everything Is Perfect

Red muddy holiday cowboy boots (Hannah's)

It was her wish (My daughter) Hannah Bailey Callaway to have me paint her chest of drawers for a Joyeux Noël gift.

Before and afters:

A few years back an Ethan Allen Christmas catalog was delivered to our post box it barely made it through the door of our home before Hannah swooned and sighed over this chest of drawers on page 7.

Now that she has lived with it for a few years she had a holiday wish for a room filled with white, her only Joyeux Noël wish was for me to set aside time to uncover the tired creams and age it with whites. It was her wish for me to paint it giving it the impression that it has evolved over time. Taking a dated pricey piece and letting it take on a French brocante flea market style, a look that measures up to a piece so perfect, but out does any mass produced piece with authentic euro chic-ness that awakens her soul.

We often over look making over a piece that may have been a pricey investment. I always feel if it is just not right anymore then add the rightness it needs. Inspiring Hannah’s room that evokes French Nordic peacefulness she can live with soulfully while adding Frenchness.

Nordic-French and a Branch from the tree.

It is our wish to inspire you to paint taking the time to sit in the quiet and create. We are inspiring the art work and hand work in our home.

Another piece I painted from dark tiger oak to used and white in her room.

I often hear a young child ask her Mom if they can help! When my daughter was young she came up to me while I was painting and said "mommy can I paint too? Do I know how to paint?" she asked. My heart dropped and while catching my breath I said in a soft whisper, thank you God for giving her my passion. This is the piece she created at 8½ years old. I set up a space she could call her own where she could create at and this is what she surprised me with. (Frame not included)

We often forget young creative minds are rarely cluttered free, the artist in a child has a unique and rare ability to capture everything they remember and love. She loved her cat, mind I tell you that the cat was a boy and she named him Rose, this may explain why she painted white rose’s in the back ground.

Now that my Hannah is in her second year of college she is still finding time to create. I would like to think it was because she could paint. It is one of my most favorite pieces in our home of creation.

Like her holiday red cowboy boots covered in mud, nothing is perfect and nothing is meant to be.

Inspiring how intense young love is when they are so passionate over small requests. Fulfilling her holiday wish list by painting it old and white.
