| A worn wrinkled scrap of linen inspired the shade that softens the beautiful wood I unearthed in the lamp base. |

| With a needle and thread and a scrap of linen. |

| All involved was a wide enough and long enough piece of linen then laundered and machine dried to fray and tatter its edges to then whip stitch the linen to each of the shades support bars. |

| Relaxed with a comfortable feel. |

| The old nylon fabric was removed from its frame and a wrapped piece of tattered linen was tack stitched here and there leaving the back side overlapped like a hospital gown. I rarely take notice of something unless its been altered or can be. |

| The front side of the chest of drawers and a pull-out serving table that acts as my coffee table. I painted it white with layers of relaxed informal that exude's French rustic comfort. I love this small heirloom chest, it's perfect for hiding away lap throws to cozy up with those soon to arrive chilly nights. |

Beautiful vignettes once again, that are helpful in bringing peace. I have been busy all week with the start of school coming up and I fear my blogging will have to slow down for a while; I have a new position teaching French in two different schools, so I have a lot to learn.

Dear Dore, once again, you have managed to breathe new life into what could have been a discarded old chunk of scrap wood. The linen shade is the perfect compliment to understated elegance. Ma chère amie!!!!! TU ES VENUE CHEZ MOI! Oh, thank you so much. It is always good to see you....isn't that first photo on my post of that chair so luscious? And thank you for noticing our flat screen TV solution. If it was me, I would have had the TV recessed into the wall with distressed doors to cover it, like Brooke over at Linen and Velvet has done. But my husband's artistry is fabulous, but I would change the curtain to a linen...maybe this Christmas I'll change it out!

Oh ma chère! I love our idea! But the only problem is that I had suggested this WAY BACK when we first built our room and my husband mounted the TV on the wall. He does NOT like the idea of having doors to open and close; he is pretty good about going with the aged French look, but two people can never really see the same vision ALL THE TIME! For example, I wanted indoor French shutters for our leaded glass casement windows. But he did not want that so we have some inexpensive polyester drapes that are a muslin color, but REAL LINEN would be better, but it's too expensive. So your suggestion for the box? I see it, I would do it in a heartbeat, but he doesn't want doors. Maybe down the road sometime, he'll change his mind! I'm hoping that IF HE DOES NOT GET LAID OFF, we can get our exposed beams put in our room to highlight the vaulted ceiling. There are so many wonderful elements about our house that we have finally achieved, but little details are in the process of becoming a reality.
So this is what I want to happen:
Exposed beams in a worn gray.
An enclosed (with doors) TV cabinet (I love what we have, but I am not happy with the curtains; we've had several people joke that it looks like a puppet theatre and it hurts my feelings!)
Get rid of some dark furniture.
Paint my kitchen and main bath (both are yellowish) ALL WHITE!

Ma belle! I saw your other comment and yes, I think that what we have for now is great. I do believe that in TIME, we could probably change out the curtain and find just the right doors, but we really love our look. As for the beams, the builder that added our two rooms constructed the ceiling so that exposed beams could be easily placed and he has described to us how they would look and I know I want them! They wouldn't be too heavy or thick, but rather think to look as if they are embedded into the ceiling.
It is SO FUN to decorate, isn't it? I am hoping to put some white pumpkins into my décor, and I will think of YOU!!! BISOUS, Anita
