French Theatrics Of Salvage

 BURLAP LUXE DESIGNS

My latest theatre of the arts, I design and create from
 rustic salvage wood.
Along with my bending of wire art and paper doll and
cartapesta mice.

 Salvage Wood

Chosen and cut to dimensions, using the best pieces showing
signs of weathered and decaying inspiration.
Every piece gets wood glued and screwed, adding all the
rightness to a French theatre of song and
dance.

Theatre Taking Shape
Moldings, picture frames, chair rungs and drawer pulls for finials
are often found in pieces of furniture I salvage from their past.
History in such pieces inspire my art in building forgotten
 treasured play.

This Theatre hangs on a wall.
22" in height x 17" in width x 6" in depth.
 Ephemera

Vintage paper ephemera I collect, papering a backdrop wall.
Yet, I nudge along its brittle aged look with tearing and
piecing it together so this wall takes on a look
of centuries old.

 Paint And Tattered Curtians

A paint treatment I give it to preserve each piece rustically.
I have still yet to lay the planked stage flooring, adding
a bit more moldings and its vintage music box
under the stage base.
Hopeful in completion soon, old wood salvage finds can not be
rushed.

Adding French Theatrical Drama...Tour

Burlap Luxe Holiday

My latest French theatre designed and built by designer Dore Callaway (Me)
Ladies and gentlemen,
La Nouvelle French theatre now in appearance.

A Joyeux Noel

Opening for holiday appearances the New Orleans gypsy mice surface from the undergrounds, and
the walls of an abandoned and decayed old French theatre. Its ornate and
stunning architecture still visible, yet shadowed by its disprepair. The
walls dirtied with intrigue of its former glory.

The relief was created from orphaned pieces of antique salvage, it was a work in progress,
and a soulful experience creating it.

A stage where French gypsy mice every December 5th gather for a musical of dance,
and song.

Tickets sold at the door.
Ticket designed by Anita, at Castles Crowns Cottages.

Join in on a theatrical production linking with 4 other beautifully artistic bloggers.

The theatre was filled, stage lights lit, and trees for a Joyeux Noel performance were as
dusty as the stage floor itself.

A side view of the theatre. The main structure I built from deconstructing an
antique 1920's French humidor cabinet by cutting it in half, removing legs, and
adding walls and old wood flooring. Along with all the decorative touches,
and aging technique to the finish art with paints.

Cast: Louise ~ Astier,
Virgil ~ Auguste ~ Rafael

The performers scurried out from the cracks in the walls and gaping stage floorboards,
taking to the stage where they squeaked and danced singing the joys of a French Noel!

Astier leaves the stage for a wardrobe change for the next scene in their gyspy wagon.

Enterance to the abandond and decayed French theatre that inspired the theatre
that I created beyond these New Orleans historical theatre doors.

Creating theatrical drama plays a big roll in our inspired French home.
I will be creating this coming year more French theatres for my
etsy shop.

Please visit my blogger friends and their theatre theatrics with more
holiday performances.

Performance de Noël...Exposition

"Created  and built by Doré Callaway" ( All photos Burlap Luxe)  Up date...It Sold

Exposition Miss Dore Théâtre Français
du 20 au 31 Décembre

With the understudy standing by the théâtre performance of French drama, and opéra must go on.

Every French home during Christmas displays a French scène. Our French home is following tradition of French toy theatre making. Creating, and fashioning 19th century papier toy théâtre, yet ours made of salvage that beckons to become a stage of performances.

I enjoy the hunt, the thrill, the breathtaking pieces of damage that I find beauty in. Then to create an old French threatre that rustically, and hauntingly echos opera, and dance .

A salvaged  antique piece of frame work forces me so willingly to be inspired to create a theatre that will perform for years to come. I wanted to create a mesmerizing, and extra ordinary avant-garde show of cabaret, and cirque du soleil. A dramatic stage for performances of holiday shows,
Where all the set designs, and props are built by the hands that create theatre soulfully.

I age it with paints, and salvage anything that inspires what I invision my theatre's to become opening night.

Wire chandeliers bent and twisted, wire ladders, and swings to perform on add to the entertaining of what I love to create for French theatre.
The stage lights are lit, and every piece crafted is in its place.

Bravo!

Notice how sweet a production seen through the strong shape of a wood box turning it into theatre shuts off everything esle, is not only an assistance to performing beauty; it is the beauty in the performance itself.

A French Noël

This bench, stool has many uses, one of a few that can be found in my etsy shop listed on my site.

The start of French theatre to become...

Theatre's emerged in the 19th century as a popular childs toy you would build from paper theatre's mirroring the grandeur of theatres of London, Paris, Vienna, Copenhagen these theatre's flurished in living room's for generations for child's play, and budding performer's.

Nearly every European country as well as the United States created its own. To find one of these rare wood or paper antique theatre's would now hold a pricey tag. I am in hopes that someday someone will find one of my théâtre français, and pass it on for another 100 years.

I added one of Penny's felted sugar plum fairy mice to a performance this year that she was so kind to make her tutu, and ballet shoes in grey for me. You can visit her blog site at... http://angelsdoor.blogspot.com

where she creates in her imagination full of beauty.
Is this little Sugar Plum fairy just the cutest performer you have ever seen.

Thank you Penny for adding to our holiday performances.
xoxo

Propriétaire du Théâtre Français...Giveaway!

Before I announce the Propriétaire du Théâtre Français (owner of French theatre) I want to thank each and every one of you who joined in on my opera theatre giveaway out of love, and passion to create drama as I do.

Hands that create poetic art with grace and age.

Not your typical dancing shoes of stage performance, but shoes that wore out in a soulful performance of building the floor of dance.

I am inspired by old theatre's, their history and beauty they behold.

“I have been creating for a lifetime; probably influenced by life itself.”

My hand created theatre's built and signed by me Dore Callaway can be seen in my etsy shop ready for a performance by you. More theatre's coming soon to my etsy, getting ready for a spring production.

The spotlight is on our newest owner of one of my French theatre's.

Pictured is the theatre of opera where she will start performing on.

I am excited to announce that the beautiful Christel Hutson (Here)A Far Place... is the winner of her very own French Theatre. I am excited to see her future performances where she will become her own actor and producer in the arts of song and dance. A GiveAway... With Drama

"click on photo to Théâtre enlarge details"

I have created with heirloom quality in mind knowing they will delight for decades to come. It is my wish to inspire artwork and handwork within all of us. Have you ever created something or received something that touched you so gently that you had to cry, well I was touched in this manner when I visited Anita at "castles crowns cottages" and experienced her opéra théâtre production that moved me with a need to create one of my own, this then lead me to creating many for my peaceful etsy shop and more coming soon.

“I have been creating for a lifetime; probably influenced by life itself.”

Taking a theatrical approach to creating and setting the stage for drama where the walls are marked with age and the distressing of time providing a perfect backdrop with imperfect age to what appears to be an abandoned old French theatre in France. The wire chandelier hanging over center stage is layered with textures and paints dramatically adding the right kind of rightness where this rustic old French stage echoes performances bygone. It made a whole lot of sense to me why I would love to share some theatrical drama with you in a G I V E A W A Y! and sharing the joy of being your own producer in a memorable performance of a stage production.

A Toy Theatre is a miniature stage, built in card or wood where Children perform plays on it using characters and scenes cut out from printed sheets of paper dolls and text written in a simple "playbook". The audience would normally be family and friends who view the stage. Adults too were known to use them, especially the large elaborate ones as I have now listed in my etsy shop!

Opéra Théâtre appeared in the Paris department store Etrennes catalog for many years, circa 1875. Originally crafted to entertain child's play but adults found creative pleasure in producing performances as well.
Theatre doll mice and papier goods are not included in this giveaway! You may make or purchase papier dolls or holiday lights to light your theatre and ornaments setting your stage with seasonal drama with a performance that will delight all.

Opéra Théâtre Valued at $120.00
