I love the haunting shadow play with wire.

The shade I created to play off my

art and light.

I love the unexpected outcome.

Aged in cartapesta and a patina

of tarnish.

I weave and bend, twist and tie every

inch that goes into creating with

wire.

The chain wire garland, I use a crochet hook and single

crochet a chain woven into the wire.

A Village Artist Lives Here...A French Home

 Burlap Luxe French Home

A home I imagine in a French village, and I

am the village artist.

 

 Raw natural French country-side pieces and objects,

inspire my home and my art in designs.

 My home that acts much like an art studio, where living is

in the art of creating.

 A room filled with objects and pieces, rustic in what I salvage.

Pieces that call out to be loved all over again.

French Attitude...Handed Down French Living

French attitude and the French country kitchen that contains much that has been 

handed down.

 When I say handed down, its as if any great find be it thrift shops, yard sales,

or flea-markets add that little handed down feel to your country home.

 Gathered decoration is inherently an affair of the heart, and nowhere is the

French more engaged then the French kitchen.

 Lavender

Rare in a French house that does not have lavender.

 Few things of beauty are dune with or out-of-date in the French rustic home; the

French have this saying for their brocante, 

" Not quite valued, but not quite useless."

 

 In the art studio, my daughter and I are adding French pottery

plates stacked in savory piles with an inherited patina of 

aged and uneven.

Everything connected with our French kitchen is used as well as

enjoyed for its rustic shapeliness.

A relaxed atmosphere
A quiet place for a single place setting atop a
sawhorse table I created for these moments.

The comforts of a French chair wrapped in linen.

Where Nordic greets relaxed French elegance.

Wild birds are welcome to sing.

Nest in comfort of old.

A room alive with morning light, and a French cupboard beginning
to fill up with earthware, ironstone and china.
The cabinet turned into a cupboard was an out dated TV unit filled
with doors and side drawers that pulled out for VHS movies. I cut
this 27" inch deep cabinet down the middle making it 13" in depth; added
shelving and exterior siding with a coat of whiteness making this a focal piece
tucked in the corner.
Inspiring the next useless piece to become something.

The Beauty In Tattered, Worn And Weathered

I can search for a beautiful shade for the light this lamp gives but I find beauty in creating.

A worn wrinkled scrap of linen inspired the shade that softens the beautiful wood I
unearthed in the lamp base.



With a needle and thread and a scrap of linen.



All involved was a wide enough and long enough piece of linen then laundered and machine
dried to fray and tatter its edges to then whip stitch the linen to each of the shades support bars.

Relaxed with a comfortable feel.

A simple stitch here and there.

The old nylon fabric was removed from its frame and a wrapped piece of tattered linen
was tack stitched here and there leaving the back side overlapped like a hospital gown.

I rarely take notice of something unless its been altered or can be.

Perhaps this shade next.

The front side of the chest of drawers and a pull-out serving table that acts as my coffee table.
I painted it white with layers of relaxed informal that exude's French rustic comfort. I love this small heirloom chest, it's perfect for hiding away lap throws to cozy up with those soon to arrive chilly nights.

 Simple beauty, "making something out of nothing"

I have collected odd and shapely dicarded salt & pepper shakers filling them with soul. 

While you may have an affinity for rosebuds and fresh picked flowers, note that there is beauty all around us. A simple wild garden weed growing with little life left in it will add passion, purpose, and creative living. These stems of weedy wildflowers gathered up from the weed filled garden beds of discarded cuttings adds special life to its beauty.
