French Attitude...Handed Down French Living

 BurLap Luxe Home

French attitude and the French country kitchen that contains much that has been
handed down.

When I say handed down, its as if any great find be it thrift shops, yard sales,
or flea-markets add that little handed down feel to your country home.

Gathered decoration is inherently an affair of the heart, and nowhere is the
French more engaged then the French kitchen.

 Lavender
Rare in a French house that does not have lavender.

Few things of beauty are dune with or out-of-date in the French rustic home; the
French have this saying for their brocante,
" Not quite valued, but not quite useless."

In the art studio, my daughter and I are adding French pottery
plates stacked in savory piles with an inherited patina of
aged and uneven.
Everything connected with our French kitchen is used as well as
enjoyed for its rustic shapeliness.

Love the shape of the basket with lavender. The French create extraordinary beauty in an ordinary day and in the objects they use daily ~ in fact, I am just this morning working on a post about this!

We are in love with the same ideas ~ and I love how you express it in your own unique way, Doré! Beautiful!

Hugs,
Lin

Doré,
Your artful expression (hey sounds like a recent posts name) enriches and nourishes your beautiful heart. Your talent is boundless. Loving the photo of you working with your creative magical hands adding life and beauty into your desired perfectly imperfect plates, platters and bowls.

The Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi accepting the impermanent and imperfections of things in life is how one can achieve balance and harmony. You demonstrate this belief in your home, your certainly an inspiration for us all.
xoxo,
Vera

Dear Dore,I really love these plates you are making. I love the patina and the perfectly imperfect shape they have. I do hope to have a few of these for my home in the future to cherish and even use. Especially, because they are done by you whose art and creations I love and admire. I agree that every French style home should have lavender and I have it in almost every room in my house. Love that basket of lavender you have and it really looks natural in your French home. Blessings!

Oh, my, is there never an end to all of your artistic talents? French pottery plates look like so much fun to create and to share that creativity with your daughter makes it even more fun. One day those plates will be 'handed down French living.'

Good morning or rather, BONJOUR, Doré! Yes, lavender is a staple flower in my home every summer. I will be gathering a fresh bunch or two in a few months (more like May) and the scent upon entering the house is one of pure ecstasy! Baskets, wooden and straw, worn pieces and a moody attitude...that is French to me!

Enjoy your day, Anita

Hello dear Dore,
This is you in all your peaceful beauty. What a comforting post.

I always look forward to your visits. Thanks so much for your sweet comments.
Yes, I have bunnies living in one of the bushes in the back yard. They come out in the morning and run and play... I would assume your are cotton tails also? They are so sweet.
As soon as the roses in front take off, I will take a photo and share. This was a bad year for my roses.. I thought I was going to lose them all, but they are coming back.
blessing dear friend,
Penny

What a beautiful post, Dore! I never tire of seeing what you do at your wonderful home. I love that basket of lavender as it seems to jump to the forefront of your photo. Gorgeous! I had a taste of working with clay in high school and then in making ceramics with slip after I married. I love feeling the clay and have always wanted to get back into creating some objects. Your plates are wonderful. What a fun thing for you and your daughter! I hope you are well, sweet friend!

I hope you put a favorite mark on the bottom, or something only you and your daughter will know! A special moment to be shared, I hope someone captures it on video for your family!

A can't wait to see them finished.

majestic attitude's - aesthetically pleasing to the eye... a thing of beauty is always valued and it just gets more interesting when paired with a piece of furniture that has been painted multiple times. .... these handmade plates will become more useful and made more beautiful with time-- I can imagine a very simple lunch, shared by old friends, family, loved ones , with this simple but elegant table setting and the privilege to be a part of it.

You are so talented!! Yes, we are going to have to meet. I seem to spend much of my time driving 14yo boys around these days, lol. It has been so long since I've visited any of the sweet vintage shops around here. I think I told you that we are friends with the owner of Desert Cottage, but I rarely get by there. I know that one of these days we are just going to run into each other :)
It is always wonderful to visit you and see your beautiful creations.

the plates look beautiful, dore, and how rewarding to enjoy these everyday knowing your own hands created them. i so admire the French way of welcoming objects into the home that have an enduring quality. not to be disposed of or cast aside for the next big thing. i so love the fading, the tattered, the worn age. there is a little French in me, but i wonder if it isn't the conservative scandinavian somewhere in my blood. your images of home have such a comforting quality, and what a treasure that is as i live within chaos at the moment. it is time to move on for many reasons, and i know the simplicity i seek will have health affirming consequences, regardless of any blogworthiness which may come. i am craving light and life and spaces where we can hear each other again without shouting or using an iphone. it is quite an interesting process leaving something you created from scratch (it was our first building project) and making room for the new. thank you for the encouragement and loyal support as only your words can convey. peace.
