GREAT Basket...PRETTY!
Ahhhhh....I have many baskets, and one gorgeous primitive wooden bowl that I need to stage for another try at taking photos. Dearest friend, I am having so much fun this summer with my poetry and photography. For both arts, much observation and experimentation is needed, but I love it so. I know now what I love in poetry: SIMPLICITY that leads to a profound discovery. I know now what I love in good photography: A lot of light, white with simple or rather, very few objects but they have to have a sort of patina.....one basket as you show here, or a carefully grouped bunch of flowers....you capture this gorgeous item in all it's natural color so beautifully.
HAPPY WEEKEND!!!!! Anita
Hello Dore
Those baskets are simply beautiful and function too.
I also love your last sentence:
I treat my home to the rual pleasures of French countryside living
Have a glorious weekend

Helen xx

Love your baskets Dore and the lovely linens. As always I look forward to reading your words and seeing your beautiful photos!
Definitely basket envy here!!! Lovely indeed!

Beautiful French countryside baskets. I am such a tactile person and I adore baskets. Your French picnic one looks to be the perfect size for a private picnic to enjoy with another person. Hey I love your Grandmother's pruning shears. I have a collection of vintage garden tools and I use them. As I know you do with your Grandmother's and feel her love and warmth.
Your staging in your vignettes are always edited perfection. Your descriptions sheer poetry, I have a mental snapshot of you out in your garden gathering flowers for inside your beautiful home, roses gracing the beautiful Floral baskets as you gather flowers you lovingly cultivated.
Happiness is having a garden and feeling the sun kiss your face.
Sending love
XOXO,
Vera
Oh, how beautiful, makes me want do make a piquenique (or however you write this ;), take this piece of nature with me, full of berries, tomatoes and a piece of bread with cheese... Cutting it on these gorgeous little cutting boards... taking branches home in the other basket with the sheers...
Oh yes, now it is time for this...
Greets from Méa, who will go to the countryside tomorrow

At one time, I had many old baskets that I loved and in the winter months when I grow desperate to fill my booth, I sell them. So many things that I love that I let get away. I love love the way you have your favorite objects arranged and photographed.

I'm a bit of a "basket case" myself these days! Yours are lovely, and your photos show the beauty in utilitarian objects. Their timeworn patina is a testiment to their craftsmanship and durability.
Beautiful, and thoughtfully shared.
Hugs,
Patti
Hi Dore,
The baskets are so french...I imagine them filled with chocolate croissants! The garden shears are a treasure! When you touch them I bet you think of your grandmas hands holding them.
I love things that remend us of our favorite people.
It would be nice to engrave her name and her life dates on it for your children!
Thank you for the comment about outdoor spaces I did a post on that yesterday!
A beautiful Sunday to you..
Off to harvest some lemons!

Gail

your baskets and pictures are beautiful, dore! love that you have your g-mom's shears, too:) have a fun week!
Good afternoon dear, dear Doré! THANK YOU for coming to visit my post. We had such a great day just last Monday when I went to the American Swedish institute with a friend. I can still dance a bit, but I do have a pulled muscle in my back that radiates pain down from my hip to my thigh, but that did not stop me from dancing on that open floor!
You asked when the photo was taken....last Monday.
We are currently in the process of having our weathered gray beams cut to measure then they will be installed, I hope, by the end of the month. I look forward to this for I now want to play with lighting so I can can decent photos of my family room, but I've never been able to take good pictures of it, so that's why I never share photos of my home. They simply don't show the beauty I see with my eyes!
I am also redoing my little theatre. I added BEAMS to the ceiling of the theatre, and I am making a plank floor painted in gray with scratch marks like a real dance floor! I'm trying to get as much fun out of this summer before school starts.
BISOUS BISOUS et mille mercis, chère amie!
Bonjour Doré!
I so enjoyed reading your comment this morning! I am very happy to hear about the progress of your kitchen cabinets; that sanding and painting and waiting for it all to dry has GOT to be so painstakingly exhausting, but well-worth it my friend. I can totally see my kitchen transformed as such, but my husband is SO TIRED....we are having our exposed beams installed within the month sometime, and I am so excited! But like I mentioned before, i am working on my theatre and I have installed BEAMS in it! Now, I need to find the right "hardwood" floor planks to complete the renovation, and prepare it for OUR collaboration this winter.
I too wish I would have made my theatre a different size, for mine is quite heavy. It was once a countertop bookcase that I acquired from a very whimsical local bookstore and it hit me right when I first saw it. But if I could, I'd make another one that was smaller. However....this one is embellished with love and great memories of using it in Blogland.
I will send you photos of the updates!
Sending you much love, Anita
Your baskets are a thing of real beauty! And the pruners, are a bit of sheer love. Thank you for visiting my blog and telling me about the no. 7. I can hardly wait to hold it in my hands! Happy to be a new follower! What took me so long? lol!
hugs,
Jann
