by  Dore  Callaway

On the fringe of life, I found myself being the curator to
what was unfolding within me and in my design life. One
morning in January of 2010, I awoke to an encouraging,
meaningful quote by George Bernard Shaw: "Life isn't
about finding yourself, Life is about creating yourself."

 It's The rustic AND
A well-loved home.

Everything I bring into my Southern California home calls out
in flaws through design artistry, hinting at the history; it makes
for an inspiring place.
I am proud of my home and its authentic
French countryside spirit.

I embrace a dusty pale palette of
darker shades of white influenced by distressed, tarnished, and
gently tattered remnants and objects.

I use my imagination to see that no object is hopeless if
looked at with vision and purpose.

Thank You

For joying my days ahead.

Blogging has allowed me the footing to build an online business,
a place to network and stay in touch with what's
being created all around me.

Congrats and well deserved. You captured your aesthetic and home beautifully. I never tire of seeing photos of your interior, so very peaceful. Viewing your photos are soothing. Love your Cypress trees, hope someone purchases them as a trio for they would make such an impact hung together. Happy Easter wishes to you and Hannah.

How wonderful! Félicitations!
I love your cypresses. When my godmother visited me, she made me stop for every cypress so she could take a photo.

Dear Dore, I am so happy for you with this magazine feature in Somerset Life magazine. So well deserved and magazine worthy is your home and style. In this world of so much mass production it is refreshing to see your home with your unique style and one of a kind pieces you have created. It is so inspiring to see how you can take something old and make it beautiful for your home. No need to toss out and buy new. And to inspire to make ones home their own. You have been a wonderful inspiration for me and so many others.

And those cypress paintings are just so lovely! I want them all! Have a very blessed Easter! Xx

I'm inspired by your creativity, and find your new artwork to be fabulous. I love it! Also, I love your words, "I use my imagination to see that no object is hopeless if looked at with vision and purpose." That, my friend, is the soul of an artist. Lovely. xo

Dore, Somerset Life magazines tag line is "Authentic & Creative Living", if they added "Beautiful" they would perfectly describe your home and passion for beauty. Congratulations on your feature, I will look forward to savoring every picture. xx Rié Portobello Design
