My latest ART pieces I have created for my etsy shop Burlap Luxe.
I live in the light and dark of my art where my soul is deepened
with creative emotions.
I work so intensely in many mediums finding myself with a deep connection to
each piece. So much so, I have an emotional weeping attachment upon
it's completion; "it's who I am as an artist."
I use natural and recycled materials such as in the following pieces of Cartapesta (Paper-Mache)
I work in mixed media, altered art and fiber materials creating objects in paper-mache.
My altered artistic identity allows me to create from my imagination in soulful
peace.
My bottle art is added to this wall pocket roadside angel shrine...
where flowers in a vase may be left.
The backside of my art is where you often will find the surprise of vintage French
book page ephemera.
While creating in fiber art and paper-mache, I am quieted with any chaotic thoughts other
then the thoughts in how it will turn out.
Molded Papier-Mache art objects were first made in France in the
early part of the 18th century, and later, in Germany and England.
Paper-Mache is still ever so popular with collectors.
13" 1/2 x 10" 1/2
I cast molds and shapes from pieces that move me in the direction of art,
and I create to appear to have a little damage to each piece.
Papier-Mache define from French, literally: chewed paper.
I find such peace in creating with paper. These two wall pockets, or
prayer pocket vessels are found wall mounted where one can leave their
prayers or tokens such as dried flowers, feathers, or poetic
gatherings.
The creator in me listens to each piece telling me what it wants to
become, and when it is completed.
Artist Creator, Dore Callaway
Each piece is made of paper and added materials that I find appealing or
inspiring.
The cast and molded piece in paper is layered on a French book cover tattered
with age. The roses are shaped by my hands and applied with plaster coatings aging
the piece to a desired look and feel of what may have been found in the
17th~18th century France.

Soulful gatherings in the vessels pocket.
This is the part of my art I love best, its all in the finished piece.
6" x 8" 1/2
The French wall pocket vessels are mounted securely on old
salvaged wood, with a wire hanger to hang it from.
Tattered cloth scrap and a paper tag that reads..."Comfort."
Tattered fiber edges add emotion to its strength.
May you find comfort.

Dore. It is all so beautiful. I love all the symbolism and how the pieces are artifacts. xoxo
Bonjour, Doré! OK, now I understand; this is the Italian for paper-mâché! Lovely as always, and so much like the ancient sculptures of old. Each piece shows the hours of hand work and you have captured the age and patina so well.
Success to you as you share your art and sell but most of all, inspire your clients and admirers! Enjoy your day dear Doré, Anita
Beautifully written to express your inner soul. Your art means even more now. Have a wondrous day. Di @ Cottage-wishes
Dore, you are a true artist and you get so emotionally invested in creating. I love that about you. These pieces have so much meanings and depth. You are an inspiration to me.
It's so evident that your heart, soul, and mind goes into each of the lovely pieces you create, Dore. I love your attention to the smallest of details. You are an amazing artist in every sense of the word!

Hi Dore! Beautiful! I'm familiar with carta pesta...you have mastered it....I'm taking a mold making course this Spring..I have a few applications in mind for it! N.xo
I can see your heart in your pieces Dore-they are very peaceful and soothing and gorgeous!
Doré,
Reading about your artistic motivation in Papier Mâché and your love of this medium and your time put into each piece was enlightening. I too weep after I've finished a poem and read it completed for the first time. An emotional attachment forms and knowing when a piece is completed and realizing the journey of creating it is over is always emotional.
I love all the pieces of Art I've collected of yours, each holds energy that transcends through the tactile touch and nuances of coloring and added embellishments. I gently use one of my red sable brushes to wipe the dust off the creole house and each time the light throughout the day and night captures the shadowing of lights and darks and I am in awe. I think to myself this is my friend Doré, who truly captures magic and releases it to its new caretaker.
xoxo,
Vera

Bonjour, Doré! I just saw your comment; thank you for coming by. On top of having much more time now to read and write my poetry, I also want to take my weekends (and have already started) to pull all my best blog posts, copy them onto word docs and then collect the best to then revise. Since I will not be using Pinterest photos but rather my own, this summer will be spent taking a lot of photos. You mentioned my poetry being a part of this..NO. My poetry that I write for my poetry group will NOT be in this book but rather BLOG POSTS and a few memoirs, that's it. I will keep updates coming every other month. BE WELL! Anita
Your work is as enchanting as ever.
How did I miss this post? Probably from neglecting my poor blog again. I'm amazed at what you're able to do with papier mache! I only have very bad memories of a papier mache beaver I made in grade school. Your creations are beautiful!
Dore, you are so creative and inspiring! You put such effort into everything you do. You create things I could never dream of. Your attention to the smallest detail makes you a true artist. You have always left such wonderful comments on my posts and I look forward to them and appreciate them. Unlike myself, who has been neglecting my blog and my blogger gals. Thank you and I look forward to more of your lovely and creative posts.~Mel
