French Jug
Objects of French desire.
This beautiful French green jug aged and warn perfectly is one of my
latest finds, and is an addition to my natural and neutral home.
This bottle was a tale of the unexpected, a local thrift shop find, and
they did not know what they had.
Yes, stamped on the bottom,
France.
Its texture, its age, and not a chip in its glass, I was in love with this find to say the least.
Another piece was this aged old apothecary jar, under a dollar.
My friends know me to collect bottles for my many bottle art pieces I create.
You can find often bottles of mine stored in larger canister jars, and
sitting about my home as displayed here on my kitchen counter.
I love storing goods in jars, and in glass canisters, it just feels so good and pure.
When they are French they are coming home with me.
You will also find salvage displayed in our French home that makes no sense other then
its previous use...
"Known to be useful, and beautiful."
Inspiring authentic additions, rural rustic complementing simple living.

Dore, your new pillows are wonderful!
You made these? What a talent! Your gifts are endless.
I LOVE the bottles stored in the canisters! Forgive me dear friend, but I must copy this idea.
Everything is a visual treat, always a pleasure to visit.
Hugs,
Patti
Oh Patty my dear, you may copy anything of mine you like.
Thank you for taking notice enough to want to do so :)
Yes my new knits, Nordic and French are of my hands, and mine alone.
Xoxo
Dore
Wow Dore, so much beauty! Those pillows!!! And all the vintage glass! So absolutely beautiful:)
Thank you so much for always taking the time to visit my tiny blog and for always being so gracious and polite. You truly are the epitome of class and grace:)
I adore your style!! You are such a talented person~~those pillows are too sweet. Your comments on my cottage/bath was such an inspiration to me (I'm still tinkering with it) Blessings~~~Roxie
Doré,
Trying to soak in all the beauty in one visit is almost impossible ... your Nordic knits are beautiful and lovingly made. Just stunning. The bottles, I adore, the glass French canisters holding vintage pieces and tea, the worn patina on the wire basket. Like I said I need another visit to soak in the carefree casual time worn French country style you have mastered.
xoxo,
Vera
Dear Dore, how are you my friend? The pillows are fabulous! They give that perfect added touch, warmth, security, and beauty, all rolled into one! I too am a bottle fanatic! My favorite find is actually a huge pepper mill I found at my local thrift store for 1.00! I have several lovely decanters, and one very old slender tall bottle with a rubber stopper. The rubber is hardened, and cracked, telling me it has seen many years..the best kind, don't you think? Your French find is gorgeous, and green! My favorite as well! Hope you have a lovely week, I have been somewhat reclusive these past couple of months, but will always pop in to see what you my dear have graced us with! xoxox Christel
Hello Dear Friend
I am so impressed with your pillows! And aaacckk! Don't you just secretly scream inside when someone doesn't know what they are selling? I love that jar and even better with a French stamp :-) Such a lovely, lovely home you have and the treasures you find add even more depth to an already old soul home.
Love your pics and may you have a very good week ahead of you.
Love and hugs
Elizabeth
Doré, all this gorgeous patina, the limited palette of natural colors and your doing, the knitting in the midst of all this surrounding. So classy, such style. Simplicity to the maximum, with these towels in a basket of iron, back the best roots. And these pillows just right in time for this weather now :)
I have the same glasses (le parfait :)
and I love them sooo much, as they are in use evry single day.
I wish you a wonderful week, Doré, your friend Méa
Dore, I have been checking to see if you have a new blog up and was so excited to see this latest one with all the lovely photos of your home filled with so much patina and textures! I adore those pillows and your latest finds are wonderful! That green French bottle is gorgeous! I would love to go shopping with you! :)I love the bottles in the jar and never thought to do that! I really get inspired by the vignettes you create! I admit I have copied a few ideas from you for my home as well. :) I hope you have a very blessed week ahead! Love, your friend, Lisa
Bonjour, Doré!
I LOVE those bottles. Funny thing, one day my husband was digging in our garden to build a new garden structure, and what did he find? A very old apothocary jar! I doubt if it's French but it sure looks like one of these!
Long ago when I was trying to find my style for home decorating, I made a list of elements that I felt were important to achieve the look. Worn wood, stone, iron, linen (and for me, crystals) and natural elements such as branches, flowers...these things I see here. So by instinct, I knew that this was the French secret to the mood we love.
Looking beautiful!
Your photos are so pretty and I find your style so charming! Those pillows look so pretty and cozy too.
Lovely Dore,
I love the hand made pillows. I hope you will be able to keep up with demand.... Have a feeling these will be a loved item!
Your home has that french simplicity I love.
Thank you for sharing a little of your talents with us!
A beautiful day to you.
xo,
Gail
Dore, Everything is so beautiful, so much to gaze at and admire in the photos. I love your thought about beautiful things that were once useful... and just because of that... to display... The pillows are amazing. My visit was like visiting favorite page of a book. Have a beautiful week. xoox Su
First of all, Dore, I pray you are on the mend. I've had a day or two of being ill but so many are talking about a weeks worth of being down.
I adore and I mean ADORE your vignettes. Every images had me oohing and aahing!
I would have never thought to put small antique bottles in a glass container, as you did. LOVE THAT IDEA!!!
Hope to chat soon. xxxx Rhonda
Love that touch of black with the new pillow! Your interiors always look so calm and inviting! xo K
What you call simplicity always looks so elegant in your beautiful home, Dore! I love the way you mix in rustic and weathered pieces into you decor with your beautiful soft and cozy pillows! So pleasing to the eye, creating comfort and beauty all at the same time.

Hi Dore,
How are you feeling? I am so sorry to hear that you had pneumonia as well. I have better days now; however if I overdo it, I am down for the count the following day. Am using a rescue inhaler that helps.
Lusting over your gorgeous knit pillows and want one in cream just as soon as I can! I have not been painting for some time, though a girlfriend is commissioning a piece, so I will be back at it soon!
Take care!
xoxo

your knits are so cozylovely! i will check out the shop. love collections of glass bottles like this--always interesting en masse. i am easing back into non-tropical life and spending time at the gym rather than surfing the net. that feels good but there's this sense that OH MY, WHAT AM I MISSING? WILL ANYONE BE THERE IF AND WHEN I RETURN TO MY OLD HABITS? i plan to post about fifi's book and your work soon! peace to you right where you are.
Absolutely love the canister of bottles. I've sold most of my bottles. Now that I've closed my booth, I'll have to start the hunt again. Wire baskets are another of my favorite. Everything here is lovely.
Dear Dore. I love your whitewashed furnitures. I`ve tried, but I can`t do it like it looks like that. Your knitted pillow is gorgeous. You are so talented in everything you create. The bottles and jars is so pretty too.
Hugs from here
in love with your knits my sweet friend ~

Oh wow Dore, your pillows look so yummy. ... and i'm with you, i love glass and glass bottles and jars too. Glass does feel so pure. I'm have no love for plastic. Everything looks amazing as usual...
Cindy
Dore I adore these pillows!! Do you have any plans to do any other colors such as a natural jute color...and can they be custom ordered? Thanks, Cindy
Hi Dore ~ You have such a way with words, design and photography... it would be nearly impossible to stop reading your posts half-way through. Even in my comment here, I'm attempting to meet the elegance of your words and avoid slang at all cost! :) This was like a mini vacation to a charming country home in France! You've really captured that aged patina and sense of history we kindred spirits crave! Sorry to hear you've been ill! Hope you are on the mend and feeling stronger each day...
Blessings,
~julie
I grew up in a home with all glass doorknobs. Every Saturday my job was to clean them before I got 35 cents to go to the movies. Boy did this post bring back memories. yvonne
Your new pillows....how gorgeous! The look so soft, cozy and snugly. And beautiful, of course! Enjoyed seeing your love sign in Fifi's book.....make that on the cover!!! Congrats, Dore :)
Just LOVELY - everything!
Take care,
Titti
Love the bottles in the canisters!!
Dore:
I know and I agree with your comment on my blog,, it has been too long between visits.
It is like coming home --each vignette tells a story and flows like the sweetest poem. Creation after creation sings out to one's soul, a place of peace, wrapped in joy, and held close to the heart.
à la prochaine!
I am glad to see you still have your esty account.
These baskets come in so handy, don't they Dore'? Functional and pretty is something I strive for in my home.
I like your idea of the white lamps and I also think the lamps that are the larger blue bottles would look great on my benches. What do you think? Not sure where i could find one, but am now on the lookout:-)
Hope you have had a wonderful weekend. It's been so wet and dreary here!!!
Take care,
Kathleen
Beautiful and wonderful finds you have in your home Doré…. you got me in the mood to do a little treasure hunting. I love the simple idea of storing the little bottles together in a large glass jar and have it on display, very pretty to look at.
Visiting your blog is such a visual treat, Dore! I love how you combine the textures, esp the zinc tray with bottles. I smiled when I saw the CA olive oil, its the same kind we use (yummy, isn't it!) And those perfectly weathered cutting boards... beautiful! I see lots of them at thrift shops but none so rich looking.
