"Burlap Luxe Home"
My new old thrift find; I am enamored with this find.
For centuries France has produced, safe to say the best lighting but, along with that is their pricey tags.
You can often find reproductions and antiques that hold great tag sales as well as, estate sales and antique dealers but, when a great old reproduction comes along you might have to upstyle its dated look as I did here.
GoodWill find $7.00 in a garishly dated 1970's Lime Green &Yellow paint finish. It had the right shape and a surprise to being wood it allowed me to strip it down and add a chippy wash of white to it.
Having the right subtle and harmonious colour adds to the atmosphere of any rustic
French home.
I am pleased with the paint treatment I gave it, the little splits in the wood add the right kind of rightness to its age.
I never undervalue lighting when a piece can pull off that rustic French role
it will play in a room.
Inspiring white Frenchness with a hint of lavender.

What a great find, Dore! Leave it to you to see the potential hidden away beneath that 70's green color on your lamp. She now speaks softly and beautifully in her new chippy white adornment. She looks lovely under her new white shade, too!
It looks wonderful! You did an amazing job!
The lamp looks just wonderful--I love Goodwill! You did a lovely job with it.
Love the lamp also. Hope you have a wonderful weekend...
Bonsoir ma chère!
You inspire me, and I have been taking more and more photos that I hope you will like. I have a current post up, but will change it on Monday and I hope you will visit to get a glimpse of how you inspired me. I love he photo of your kitchen; I also contacted one of the magazine editors that you have worked with and I just need to send more photos. I hope this works for me as I truly want to publish. Bravo to you and all your work. Anita

Doré,
Don't you just love it when a piece cries out to you and says "make me pretty again"!
Beautifully recreated for your pretty and soulful home.
I'm about to experiment on making a crinkled linen lampshade on a wire frame. I'm going to attempt to dip it in fabric stiffener then artfully wrinkle it and adhere it to a fireproof shade liner and wrap the wire frame with it. Wish me luck ;^)
Again you capture the essence in your amazing photography, always a delight to come for a visit.
XOXO,
Vera
Lovely lamp. I'm sprinting to my nearest Goodwill. This was another inspirational post that gets me thinking outside of the box.
Great find and your treatment added to the perfect shape of this lamp fits wonderfully into your home....love the whole corner!
Hope you are enjoying Summer.

WOW...what a find indeed,it is stunning..looks like it would cost a small fortune...lucky lady to have found it and know what a hidden gem it was..xo
My dear Doré! SO GOOD TO SEE YOU VISIT! And welcome to chez moi.
I will keep in contact with YOU as I hope to take a similar turn as you did by submitting some photos to a magazine, but first, my poetry class is going to take up my summer, and I'm excited about that. In the meantime, I will click away with my camera and try to create visual poetry and maybe one day, both the arts will come together.
How lovely is your cuisine française on your sidebar, that made it into Romantic Country! I hope to be in a magazine one day.
Bisous ! Anita

I love that you don't judge a book (or in this case a lamp) by it's cover! The transformation is beautiful!!

It looks beautiful. The lamp looks just wonderful!
Oh my gosh, Dore...I love that find, and I just posted a comment to your lovely comment on my blog and had to pop over here and wouldn't you know it? That little project I am working on (the sewing one) came from Goodwill as well! Seriously! I had to laugh when I came over here and saw your fab lamp and where it came from and here I am working on a Goodwill find as well....
And as usual, you can find the best treasures that others just don't see...that is why you are you :-)
Big hugs
Elizabeth
Oh it came out beautiful! I love, love, love that look.
Hello Dore
Your keen eye spotted this great lamp and your vision then realized is truly spectacular.
Wishing you a week of joy
Helen xx
Beautiful find. There is something about striking decorative details against white. So classic.
Dear Dore,
The lamp is beautiful! And I love how you've layered this entire vignette. With the door, the old mirrors....such depth!

You really did find a steal at Goodwill. I like what you have done with the paint job as well. It does give it a rustic type of look. The hint of lavender just puts the icing on the cake.

Hello again!
I was wondering how you get dark furniture into the beautiful, light wood to white wash?
I've just discovered the joys of Citrustrip and am stripping 17 antique doors for my home.
I find myself very attracted to the light, white/gray washed finishes, but don't know how to bring really dark wood up to that state. Could you share your advice? Thank you.
Dore your lamp is amazing; and to think so many people would just walk past it!
xoxo
