Pieces That Speak To Me

Burlap Luxe, Home living room

Inspiring darker shades of white.
The chest was a dark piece that beckoned to be finished in a darker shade of white.
I stripped off its darkness to paint a new future for it. The sideboard chest was a local thrift find for twenty two dollars, I knew I had a treasured find.
Maker; Century furniture.
It's now a soothing piece that adds soul to my gathered and collected home.

Thank you Kim, White Whispers To You for the beautiful gifting of the French paperback books that rest on my chest of greyness.

An Ethan Allen, French chair was given to me from a developer that I design his model homes. His wife, a friend, no longer liked it, nor the pink and blue fabric. I stripped it down and painted it in shades that blended to then upholster it in natural linen. Take notice of the arm where arm pads would have been, I loved the contour of its naked~arm and decided to leave it as is nail holes and all.

Thanking my dear friend Kim Kelly, from Bella Rustica who shares my passion for linen. Kim gifted me some of her beautiful textiles where I have been sewing up tattered linen dinning napkins. Nothing says relaxed dinning like tattered French linens.

Adding beauty to pieces that speak to me, nothing is meant to be perfect but, it is.

Items and people can be perfect and inspiring in their imperfections. This reminds me of a book I am reading a book now entitled Beautiful Souls about every-day people who are "saying No, breaking ranks, and heeding the voice of conscience in dark times."

Parliamo presto bella amica,
Kim

Dore I love the chair. I too have a couple just like it that I did not put padding on the arms. The old French chairs have such good bones. Have a wonderful weekend. Alaina

Ahhhhh....yes, YES...OUI!

I just woke up to find your lovely comment ma chère, and thank you for visiting! I am glad to hear that you are feeling better! We are having more pollen accumulate here, so my eyes and nose are starting to react to the high pollen count! But I will remain enthusiastic about our beautiful spring. Here is how I have added our beloved whites into my OUTDOOR décor: I now have nothing but white flowers in my pots in the back garden, and what a DIFFERENCE that makes! I have a lush garden of boxwood hedges that now are flanked by white/gray slabs of stepping stones. That coupled with only white flowers gives me that LOOK...OUR look!

Now for your décoration de la maison....super. MAGNIFIQUE! To think that you take an ordinary thrift store find and give it such "history" and French whispers, is a joy to see. Everything looks as if I would want in my home and I am actually getting, little by little.

The details as well really add. The linens, the chairs that have the chippy paint....TOUT est si sublime.

Ahhhhh....I can't get enough of the simple white plates, the unadorned linens, and the old wood. It just evokes peace. May your home always be filled with this peace mon amie bien aimée!

Oh my Dore, such inspiring beauty. But gotta say if I didn't live on the opposite coast I'd sneak in and add a leopard pillow on your sofa and wait for your reaction ;^) OK perhaps shocked expression!

Your gathering of collected pieces from the past mix beautifully in the present and wink at the future of found possibility.

Your simplistic elegant style makes us rethink and edit our homes. Thank you for your gorgeous artistic expressions.

XX,
Vera

Although I still believe leopard to be a neutral, wink, wink my peaceful, soulful inspiring blog friend.

Ma chère amie!

I hope you are feeling much better now! We here are facing the worst pollen count of the season, this weekend and I can already feel it coming upon me! I so hope you are better.

I hope that next year, as I did decide to continue these parties, that you will be able to participate. It was truly so much fun, and this group of bloggers really put so much enthusiasm into not just their posts, but in the fun of visiting each other. Enjoy the weekend my dear, and get well soon. Anita

PS...I have some lovely silver flatware just like what you show above, that my parents got on their wedding day, over 56 years ago. I think I need to display some of it just as you show here. It has that perfect patina on it!!

Oh, that chair, I mean, I love everything but that chair. Sigh.

Completely satisfied now, having seen you images and how you can turn a thrift find into a beautiful addition to any setting.

Wonderful inspiration.

It's all just beautiful. You have such an eye... I love that you left the arms of the chair bare, and the finish on the wood is just exquisite. I'm redoing some chairs with arms like that, and i was thinking the fabric on the arms is just gonna get nasty. And now you've given me the idea to leave them bare... but i would never have thought of that myself! So thanks brilliant lady!
