"All Photos Burlap Luxe Home"
Few things in beauty are discarded in our French brocante home. I am not bringing attention to the pale of our room, but the curtains, rods and brackets that were once used for another purpose and function until I opened my eyes to what I was looking at and what it could become.
Here you see a curtain rod that would be used as a closet pole to hang clothes from. I ordered them in oak from Home Depot and they will cut them for you to the length you need. I then washed them down with a damp rag filled with grey paint in a staining fashion to then add a top coat of white paint for a perfect patina that added a weathered look to them.
I deal with many contractors in the building and design trade and here is what next inspired my rod brackets. I salvaged an old steel fence post and had my iron fabrication guy cut the post into 3/4" inch rings to then weld a 2" rod post and weld it to a small face plate that I could then screw into the wall like an eyelet bracket giving my rods and brackets a rustic French feel to the room.
We all know what the purpose of painters canvases are used for and many of you have caught on to the trend of using them for so many projects. I washed the canvases and dried them, to then sew a rod pocket across the top and with a huge savings of not buying readymade curtains I had the look and feel this room needed to anchor its look.
I also added a couple of holes here and there to them before washing so when they were dry I would have that aged tattered rightness giving them an old rustic feel to them as if they were a great brocante textile find.
Like so many of you out there replacing chandeliers with pendant lighting I too have been crushing on them, but hating those huge retail marketed prices and in most cases lacking that true history of a great find in making one for so much less by using unique galvanized containers, olive bucket, wire baskets and just about any creative find.

The rustic French-Nordic charm of a rustic pendant gets me all the time.
Seeeee where I am going with this and with another great find that had another function and purpose.
My rustic find was a garden hanging pot aged with a patina to love.
$5.00 flea market find.
By turning it upside down I have found the perfect piece for my pendant light and off it will go to be wired for electric. I can't wait to share the outcome.
A piece of a tear down I salvage from the junk pile received a wash down and now it's a great piece of salvage when it lost its usefulness to now accessorizing my French cabinet with and object to admire.
This French Hattian bird made from a salvage steel drum is now added to my etsy shop.

You are able to make everything in a room look as if it were designed to be in that space - so creative and artistic.

Good morning dearest heart!
OK, you are inspiring me once AGAIN here; I have been weeding out dark objects from my two front rooms of the house, and the more I take away, the better. But I see that even to the smallest detail of the rods (LOVE THE SIMPLE HARDWARE) that these things do make a difference.
Every object here has created a perfect setting for this brocante look that I love. MERCI MON AMIE POUR TES IDÉES!
Lovely as always my dear. MERCI. Anita
