I lived with it long enough and wanted a change. After having a little conversation with myself should or should I not paint it, that little voice inside me said oh go ahead and paint it, and here is what a little white liming wax paint finish and the charm of an aging technique did for this piece. "I never plan for a particular patina I just live with it forever how long, and paint it when it feels right."
It's still waiting for a finishing touch to its finish but at this point with what look it has taken on I am liking it so far.
A little distressing adds to the effect that this piece has been around awhile, complementing the rooms love for all things rustic French flea market style.
I love that it speaks to me now with a French accent, adding the right kind of rustic that clearly proves change is good.
This is the first stool I have added to my decor and I wish I had done it sooner. Inspiring a piece you have lived with long enough, and a farmhouse stool.
I adore all you transformations!

Love it painted. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove the faded finish, Dore. The hardware looks great too.
ReplyDeleteLove the remake on that cabinet--it looks great! That little farmhouse stool is so cute..now I need to find one of those :)
ReplyDeleteDear Dore
ReplyDeleteI love how you take beautiful to an entirely higher level. You my dear are amazing so very amazing. What a blessing to know you as a friend and to be inpspired by the touch of your hands. The piece is divine. Much love to you sweet friend

It is so beautiful. I just love the stool. It is small enough to sell in you etsy if you wanted to. Someday when my hubby is not so busy with work he hopes to build pieces of furniture for home and garden that we may sell in etsy or another venue. I see you are going more and more white with your palette. I will never tire of white.
ReplyDeleteI watched Eat Pray Love this weekend and of course thought of you! oxox
ReplyDeleteDear Dore,
ReplyDeleteYou hands, like your heart bring pure beauty into your work.. Exquisite piece... I love how it turned out, and the stool is a piece of art in itself..
Wishing you a restful evening and beautiful week ahead.
With great admiration and fondness
Penny

Bises, Anita
I am in love with your makeovers Dore! They are beautiful. I am always amazed when I visit your blog. Have a beautiful day. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
You did right! I'm just like you. A plan comes in mind, I wait... and paint. Last week I painted my doors black and now I want to paint the kitchen. Greetings Alie (Huisje Weltevee)
ReplyDeleteWonderfull job!
ReplyDeleteBye!
The perfect mix of rustic and refined ~ love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I look up from my computer at the French armoire, and think... perhaps I've lived with it long enough... time for a change. :)
Wishing you a lovely week, Dore!
Zuzu
Alie, thank you for your visit, what colour are you going to paint your kitchen, the black door sounds great, I use to use a lot of black in my designs, now I am in between using white and grey's.

Dore
Oh yes, the pickling made it so yummy, and that little stool is precious. I can imagine it could be used in a million different ways,i love the whitewash of paint on it!

Anita, mon cher ami,
your talent amazes me each time I see something new. wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSimply wonderful! It makes it look like a totally different addition to your decor. The baskets underneath are perfect. So glad you had that little conversation with yourself!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Beth

Dearest Dore,
ReplyDeleteI am back to leave a second comment to thank you for your sweet comment at my blog. I truly am head-over-heels with your beautiful home and art - and how I wish we could be cottage neighbors! :) How fun would that be?
Hugs to you, my sweet friend.

Anita
love the soft finish. It turned out great!
ReplyDeleteOh chèrie, tu es si gentille d'être venue.....et à toi, grosses bises! Anita
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovelier now.
ReplyDeleteYou've made a wonderful paint job.
It truly does look so much more French now, Dore. :) Soooo pretty! And that darling little stool adds such a sweet rustic touch! :)
ReplyDeletexoxo laurie
one word....FABULOUS!! :)chris
ReplyDeleteI loved it before, but much more now. Your vision for your pieces is always the right one. The hardware is so beautiful. I adore the little stool too.
ReplyDeleteI love how it matches the stool. The white color is much better then the dull original tan color it first had. I love how you kept a small amount of the tan color to give it a disturbed look. Really pretty.
