Nordic French Noel

Burlap Luxe Adorned

Beautiful winter in the spirit of the season.
Stickly bare tree with a quirky French ornament tag. Little Afghan pine trees fill our
rural rustic home suited perfectly.

These sweet peaceful trees give off a wintery glow to a Norwegian cottage but,
inspired here by all its French designs.

Nothing adorns the tree but, a single torn French book page as an
ornament tag reminding us of a simple winters solstice; rooted deep
in the gentleness of the reason.

I like the feeling of a simple celebration of "Goodwill" in the peaceful heart
of our home.

A vintage Noel adorns a French garden antique planter box with
pine trees under a lighted window. It adds a cozy feeling to the kitchen by adding
something rustic, and beautiful.

A Merry weathered holiday in all its rustic charm.
Tis the time of
GOODWILL
and red boots.

  1. Oh Doré, you captured the sense I wanted to create in my home, but I do lack the rustic element. However, this weekend, we are going to start the paint job on the dark wooden beams. They are gorgeous, but I so want this white look and my husband agree to it!

I LOVE YOUR TREE. This year as well, I wanted to have a very sparse and simple, unadorned tree. We found a sweet Fraser Fur tree and I love it, but next year, I hope to find an even sparser tree and put it in a zinc can.

Everything here is just perfect for that Nordic/French look. You inspire me always chère amie. MUCH LOVE and thank you for the magic this year, and always. Anita

  2. Dore, I love your pure and simple look. The sweet unadorned trees in buckets are just right, and the single tag just perfect. It reminds me of my Christmases as a little girl growing up in the country. We always had a pine tree for Christmas, that heavenly fresh scent holds so many beautiful memories for me.
Thank you for stirring that this morning and all your wonderful and inspiring posts. Such a pleasure to get to know you. May your holidays be blessed.
    Big hugs,
    Patti

  6. I'm catching up here, Dore, and there's so much to see! Your little trees are the perfect touch for Christmas and I love the pop of red from your boots! Your New Orleans mice theatre is creative genius - I just adore it! You have the most amazing talent. :)
And BIG congratulations on the release of Fifi's book with your art inside. I can't wait to get the book!

  7. Doré,
Unadorned and soulfully expressing the beauty you share in your blog, your writing, your home and your art. You inspire one to see things in a different light, to embrace the beauty in a simplistic state of rustic sparseness.

I appreciate your friendship more than I can ever express. You inspire me to go beyond what I ever thought I would share on my blog. That Doré was a special gift you graced me with.

You already know I have many small unadorned trees throughout our home this Christmas. All left unadorned, no lights, just the sparse beauty of the meaning of what unadorned now means to me. After our anniversary dinner last night we stopped and purchased a graceful, sparse in form 4 foot pretty tree. Doré only you will understand this, as I came downstairs I saw a bright star dance and dash through the branches... Yes for this year we are embracing a peaceful Christmas. I believe this tree was meant for me.

There is an energy, a wonderment approaching the New Year. New adventures, new self discovery meant to share in self expression ... 2015 will shine.
Sending Holiday greetings and sending my love to you and Hannah.
    xoxo,
    Vera

  20. A beautiful tree to complement its surroundings. Our Christmas decorations are simple and there is only one adornment on our white, wooden Christmas tree - a red heart. Amicalement xxx

  22. Doré, we do not have any christmastree - not even a little one. We have a Treekiller here - our little cat. But anyway, I do not like those big trees. Your little ones, they look so gentle, as if they had green fur. So beautiful and unique - as everything you do.
So have a gentle hug from me, I just stood up this morning and read your post. Your friend Méa :))

  23. Dore, I love the simple little trees you have and wish I could do something like that in my home but I can't pull it off like you. They are perfect in your home and go so well with your style. I did go with a much simpler look with my Christmas décor this year and you were my inspiration for that! Maybe next year even more so! I plan to go with a more simple look in my home décor this year so that will be the plan! Loving the red boots! Merry Christmas, my dear friend!

  28. I don't think there is anything more Christmasy and more natural than bringing in a live fir tree for Christmastime, Dore. I adore your sweet Nordic ones all lined up like little toy soldiers. :)

I also wanted to thank you so much for the beautiful Christmas card. You are a sweet and treasured friend!

Praying for you a rich and joyful Christmas, Dore! ♥

  29. such elegant glimpses of the everyday here, dore. i love the soulfulness with which you approach your decor and daily life. it is what i strive to do as well. timeworn and not precious are so very welcome here as well, and your styling elevates these qualities, bringing them into an ethereal realm. i am beat! a full day and a half of cooking (souffle, swedish pancakes, steak-mushroom salad, cheesy potato bacon soup...), sewing, crafting with girlfriends and entertaining has drained me of everything. tomorrow will involve gentle re-entry into calm and an intentional focus to PREPARE HIM ROOM in my heart. this is what christmas is to me. not trappings. not bustle. it is Christ with us. peace to you and may wonder continue to find you and move you.

  43. Gorgeous. gorgeous. This is what my dream Christmas looks. I hope you and Hannah had a great Christmas, Dore. The girls and I spent Christmas eve at friends's house and off they went to their Dad's on Xmas day. I spent the day with my best friend eating the best Chinese food and spending the day in a comfy robe and read two books. I don't remember the last time I did that. Wishing you the happiest of New Year, my dear Dore.

I am trying to catch up.. I missed this post. The week of Christmas I was hit with walking pneumonia.. It really put a damper on the holiday.. I am fully recovered, and feeling so much better.. I hear you were down with the flu? Oh lord, I hope you are on the mend.

Here is where beauty lives... From you soul. Such a peaceful post for such a special day.
