Rustically White

Details can make a difference.
This mirror was antique gold and silver, I wanted to add more age to an
antique mirror that would create a sense of calm by adding rusticity to its
formality.

A decidedly new look of old, by painting and distressing it in white.

Details can make a difference.

I knew the outcome all along, it was to be white with authentic aging to it.
I saw this mirror in contrasting shades of white, greys, and
naturally aged.

Giving it a timeworn look nourishes my home with purposeful soul.

A less cared for effortless beauty in all things rustically white.

    Like life, the details come from keen observation, experimentation and trial and error...I'm speaking of myself as I work with my poetry and photography, and now, I can see more clearly how great artisans like yourself, take time to examine what makes a SOULFUL piece: DETAILS.

    Observation and patiently listening for the piece to speak to you is an intuitive and oftentimes a rare attribute. You have the ability to transform what a piece, a house or your thoughts want. Your heart tells your mind, your mind directs your artisan hands and soulful beauty is the result.

    Personally I feel this trait isn't learned it just is developed over time of listening in the quiet. I respect our friendship and I value you talent.

    Not only is the aged finish on the mirror alluring it caresses the eye with a reflection of purposeful beautiful pieces.

    My friend I always look forward to a new post from you where you share your efforts that bestow you, Hannah and Pia Bleu a nest of calm and soulfulness.

    Oh Dore, so so so beautiful! I was debating between gilded or white washed look for my next mirror project and you have convinced me to go with time worn look. It is so peacefully divine! That chest is just so pretty. I want my floors to look like that!

    Simlpy adorable! the timeworn look, and oh, these chippes and distressed tiny spaces like little universes. The artist time just walkes by and leaves this effects without hard trying. So lucky.

    Bonjour ma belle!

    What a glorious visit you have grace me with this morning dearest Doré! It is so good to see you and hear about your newest project for the little theatre! I would so love to stage a production with you during the holidays! How is your kitchen coming along?

    OH! Our builder is coming on Wednesday with the lumber for our beams....FINALLY! He is going to cut the exact measurements and angles for the beams and he is leaving the wood for us so Ruben can knock off the sharp edges in order to make the beams look old and distressed. I will then paint them. I want that white-washed look to them (the wood will be simple pine) but I am still not sure how to do this painting process. I was thinking of simply using Annie Sloan white, but when I experimented with a little grey that I still have, I was not satisfied with the layer. I suppose I need to sand a little and maybe even wax the beams?

    Anyway, I will send you photos of my wooden horse! I failed to send you those pictures! Oh I hope you can find one; mine is old but not too old, more vintage than antique, but I love him all the same.
