Nordic French Calm Tucked In The Corner

Burlap Luxe kitchen photos by Dore

A relaxed atmosphere
A quiet place for a single place setting atop a
sawhorse table I created for these moments.

The comforts of a French chair wrapped in linen.

Where Nordic greets relaxed French elegance.

Wild birds are welcome to sing.

Nest in comfort of old.

A room alive with morning light, and a French cupboard beginning
to fill up with earthware, ironstone and china.
The cabinet turned into a cupboard was an out dated TV unit filled
with doors and side drawers that pulled out for VHS movies. I cut
this 27" inch deep cabinet down the middle making it 13" in depth; added
shelving and exterior siding with a coat of whiteness making this a focal piece
tucked in the corner.
Inspiring the next useless piece to become something.

  1. Bonjour mon amie! Everything looks fantastic and that last photo of the chandelier with the dripping candle is perfection in the French sense. Your sawhorse table is EXQUISITE! The marriage of Nordic and French is made in Heaven on Earth, right in your own home. Thank you always, always, for the inspiration!

    BONNE JOURNÉE! Anita

  6. Such a lovely, and serene room, Dore. I look at your beautiful photographs, and then look up from my computer at our tiny cottage and see how very much we share in common. It brings a smile to my face.

This year. This summer. I'll be painting several of my furniture pieces Nordic/French rustic gray. I can't wait!

BTW... your little nest is on it's way.

  8. Good morning dear Dore! You have made it impossible to choose a favorite thing here! I absolutely love it all. The chair, and it's quiet elegance, the utilitarian style of the saw horse, yet it makes quite a statement all on it's own. The cupboard! Who would have ever guessed this was once a boring entertainment unit. It is all perfectly soulful Dore. A beautiful corner, I'd love to just sit, and ponder. Have a great day my friend, Christel

The birds are singing here in the warm west. Letting us know that spring is around the corner.

    Blessings to you, mon amie.

  13. What a wonderful talent you have! I would never have thought to reduce the depth of a cabinet. You have turned it into a fantastic display piece. I love the darling original table too. All set up so very beautifully. It's a wonderful look!

  14. Doré,

On a hectic morning that again there is snow, I can but for a few moments imagine relaxing in the peace and calm of your Nordic French inspired sea of whiteness soulful home.

Day dreaming of the beauty and for awhile perhaps believe... yes we live in an untroubled world. As this perfectly serene interior can elicit as you sit quietly and feel the calm.

I adore your movable candelabra. The drippy candles add to the rustic charm. I am looking for a vintage one to add to our bathroom. I'd like to hang it in the skylight and when we need roof access (central air unit is up there) we can just unhook the candelabra. I want to paint it matt white and use light grey candles.

Yes, sweet friend I will do a post of a tour of our bathroom most likely in April.
Thank you for all you inspire and share.
    XOXO,
    Vera

  50. Beautiful friend,

Thank you for coming over again! Yes, I have thought about those magazines that you have mentioned, but my home is of no interest to them. I've tried! But perhaps it's not my home that I must concentrate on, but my writing, which actually pleases me to do for OTHERS. But we never know, maybe one day my little French cottage will interest someone.

Many thanks for your sweet friendship, and I must show you the picture of my wooden horse that I painted. I like him! XOXOXOOX
