Place Of Shelter & GiveAway!

A GIVEAWAY for you...
Thanking you all for your love and support, you are the best of friends and you stand out!
In this beautiful journey of artfully blogging with all of you, and the many beautiful comments you have all left me on my perfectly imperfect works of art I thank you from the depths of my soul. I am offering One of my hand painted shelter signs on solid vintage Mahogany signed by me it measures 22" x 5"1/2 x 1" It hangs by an aged foggy gray chain to one winning friend, I wish I could whip one up for each and everyone of you.

That little bird has chosen his shelter. Above it are the stars and the
deep heaven of worlds. Yet he is rocking himself to sleep without
caring for tomorrow's lodging, calmly clinging to his little twig,
and leaving God to think for him.

    My shelter from everything is my little old home from 1891 and my garden included which I call "my haven". I always feel safe and like I'm in my own little world when I am home.

    My place of shelter is my best friend in the whole entire world, my sole mate of 28 years this month, my wonderful husband Mark. He is my safe place and my comfort. When we are together, no matter where we are, he is my shelter.

My place of shelter, in the literal sense of the word -- meaning, to me, "home" -- is my private, peaceful sanctuary that I share with my kitties (my saying is "Home is where the kitties are!"). My dream place of shelter is a simple abode near the coast, not necessarily fancy, but a place filled with the things I love that speaks of the people and places I love. One day I hope to have my dream home, but in the meantime, my place of shelter will be wherever my kitties are!

    Dore...we do need to walk on sea's hem together someday. Thank you for your kind words on your link above. I am honored to just be called your friend. I got some rest and am feeling more myself this morning. I remembered I wanted to tell you that YES you could make that wire lantern I featured on the Grad post!!!! You are the ONE I thought of when I first saw it. Really you should make some and sell them in your shop. I am behind in getting everything ready to open shop...so much to do in helping Grace graduate and now register for classes in college. So far she is registered for three Art classes(wait listed for all of them). Math and Eng are closed. She is trying to take an Anthro or science class. Then there is all the forms and red tape to go through in order to get the Grants and scholarships she was awarded. It is enough to make you want to give up. It was enough to make Grace cry. In June she gets to go on a trip with my parents to Nebraska to visit our many relatives. She is so looking forward to it! She will take the train home...which will be an adventure in itself.     My home is my place of shelter, specifically my boudoir. Also, I consider my roots in Louisiana. I always feel grounded when I go home for the holidays. I love that feeling, especially since I am 1000 miles away. =)

    I am back, Dore! OK - a little comment about my place of shelter:

    A 375-square-foot cottage, designed & built by my husband and myself a few years ago, decorated with French & English style furnishings, with vintage & garden accents ~ little bird nests, garden rabbits, pressed botanicals, old jars filled with wildflowers, etc. But the best part is that this little cottage is surrounded by old growth forest, and we share this place of shelter with little birds, deer, rabbits, and chipmunks. Which is why I call my blog 'A Cottage In The Woods'. :)

    It has been a very tough year for me....
    Both parents seriously ill..
    ugly divorce...
    horrid in laws...
    spinal surgery due to patient attack ( I work Psych lockdown)
    So shelter to me is..
    PEACE.
    Take all your money, the houses, the cars, companies.. sign the papers and let me go to my little haven in Florida by the sea with my little pirate and mermaid in training..
    That is my shelter... my safety.. my love...
    And soon..my peace....

    Love your creations, and the quotes from Luther and the psalms, I wonder if you picked the small little house wren for your signature as I did mine years ago when I had a floral business called "Bird Hill Gardens" on every piece I placed a small bird tucked in somewhere.
    I cannot help but to reflect on the adobe of the small house wren & how he survived the frost of winter when all he had were the shining stars and lofty dreams of spring to kept him warm. Hearing them sing in the trees - reminds me how grateful I am for my home.
